Clara Rigdon

Clara (Mabel) Rigdon, age 89, of Bethel Church Road in Pinckneyville, passed away Saturday evening, January 22, 2000 in the Skilled Care Unit of the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Mabel was born the daughter of John A. and Nellie (Arnett) Miller on December 21, 1910 in Pinckneyville.  She was united in marriage to Clarence R. Rigdon on January 29, 1928 in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1969.  Mabel was retired after 26 years with the Pinckneyville Garment Factory.  She was a member of the Garment Workers Union and the Oak Grave Baptist Church of Pinckneyville.  She enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a lifelong resident of Pinckneyville.
Mabel is survived by two sons, Loren Rigdon and wife Ann of Pinckneyville and Eugene Rigdon and wife Nancy of Pekin; one son-in-law, Ervin C. Schwarz of Pinckneyville; 11 grandchildren, Gina Moses, Michael, Paul, Mark, Tod Rigdon, Steve, Rick and Bruce Schwarz, Debra Chapman, Sheryl Provart and Chris Rigdon; 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Ruby Schwarz and two brothers, Elmer and Kenneth Miller.
Funeral services were held at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville on Tuesday, January 25 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Rob Mathis officiating.  Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends were able to call on Monday evening at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home from 5 until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 8 until 9:15 a.m. then at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
